FLORIDA CULTURAL ARTS RESIDENCY SELECTION PROCESS

The criteria for selection into the residency program:

  • Community involvement
  • Have at least one completed project
  • Interview Process
  • Showcase of Skills

One of the things FCA likes to see is the artist's ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to community engagement and interaction. FCA recognizes the importance of artists connecting with the local community and aims to foster meaningful collaborations.

In addition to the artistic aspect, FCA realizes the importance of equipping artists with practical skills to succeed in the professional art world. As part of the residency program, selected artists receive training in areas such as small business practices, marketing, branding, booking and promotions. This comprehensive training empowers artists to develop a sustainable career, effectively promote their work, and establish a strong professional network.

FCA recognizes the significance of showcasing artists' work to a wider audience. Throughout the residency period, artists are presented with numerous opportunities to exhibit their art forms at major festivals, local events, YouTube, and via streaming platforms. These showcase events not only provide exposure for the artists but also serve as platforms for artistic dialogue and exchange. FCA actively seeks both paid and unpaid opportunities for artists to exhibit, ensuring that their work reaches diverse audiences and contributes to the cultural enrichment of the community.

In conclusion, the Florida Cultural Arts residency program offers a holistic and enriching experience for artists. Through a rigorous selection process, artists are chosen based on their previous projects, community engagement, and a compelling interview. The program provides training in business, marketing, and branding, along with dedicated studio time. Furthermore, FCA actively seeks opportunities for artists to showcase their work, both paid and unpaid, fostering a vibrant artistic community in Florida.
